1.0 Welcome
Thank you for purchasing Sony Creative Software Inc. Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0. This document contains information about installing and using Sound Forge Audio Studio on your computer.
 
2.0 What’s New

  • Gracenote® MusicID™ technology for extracted audio from CDs.

3.0 Known Issues
  • If you have a USB SmartMedia reader device installed on your PC, you may experience problems when you attempt to access your CD drive from Sound Forge Audio Studio for extracting audio or burning CDs. This is due to an error in the SmartMedia reader driver. Using the Unplug or Eject Hardware Wizard to remove the reader should allow Sound Forge Audio Studio to function normally.
  • Copy-protected ATRAC audio files may fail to preview correctly or may open as silence.
4.0 System Requirements
The following lists the minimum system requirements for using Sony Creative Software Inc. Sound Forge Audio Studio:
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows Vista™
  • 900 MHz processor
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 150 MB hard-disk space for program installation
  • Windows-compatible sound card
  • DVD-ROM drive (for installation from a DVD only)
  • Supported CD-Recordable drive (for CD burning only)
  • Microsoft DirectX® 9.0c or later (included on application disc)

    You must provide your registration information to Sony Creative Software Inc. to activate the software.
5.0 Installation
The install utility creates any necessary folders and copies all files required by Sound Forge Audio Studio to your computer.
 
Installing from a Disc
  1. Place the Sound Forge Audio Studio application disc in the drive. The setup screen is displayed (if AutoPlay is enabled for your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive).
    If you have disabled the drive's AutoPlay feature, click the Start button and choose Run. Type D:\setup.exe, where D is the drive letter of your CD or DVD drive, and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  2. Click Install, and then follow the on-screen prompts to install the appropriate version of Sound Forge Audio Studio for your computer.
Installing from the Web
  1. Download the install utility from our Web site.
  2. Double-click the file, and then follow the on-screen prompts to install the appropriate version of Sound Forge Audio Studio for your computer. 
6.0 Sound Forge Audio Studio Quick Start Guide
Included on the Sound Forge Audio Studio application disc is a Sound Forge Audio Studio Quick Start Guide in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. The Acrobat format allows easy printing of the text, should you need a hard copy. The manual is located in the Manual folder on the application disc.
 
Installing Adobe Reader
In order to view the manual, you will need to install the Adobe Reader. It has been included on the application disc in the \Extras\Adobe Reader folder for your convenience. To install Acrobat Reader, follow these steps:
  1. Place the Sound Forge Audio Studio application disc in the drive. AutoPlay launches an installation menu.
    If you have disabled the drive's AutoPlay feature, click the Start button and choose Run. Type D:\Extras\Adobe Reader\English\AdbeRdr707_en_US.exe, where D is the drive letter of your CD or DVD drive, and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  2. Choose Browse Disc, and then browse to the D:\Extras\Adobe Reader\English\ folder.
  3. Double-click the AdbeRdr707_en_US.exe icon and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
